The mission of the Society for Integrative Oncology is to advance evidence-based, comprehensive, integrative healthcare to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. Integrative oncology is defined as using evidence-informed mind-body practices, natural products, lifestyle modifications and traditional practices alongside standard cancer treatments from diagnosis through survivorship, across the cancer care continuum. SIO is the premier multidisciplinary, international organization for the field of integrative oncology and focuses on scientifically rigorous clinical research, development of clinical practice guidelines (with ASCO), global outreach, education, training, and health equity. Integrative medicine empowers people with cancer to play an active role in their health improvement during treatment and beyond. SIO has many committees, task forces, and special interest groups which focus on research, education, conference planning, health equity, international outreach, clinical practice, patient advocacy, yoga, acupuncture, nursing, program management and more.
