  • To create a list of things that you could use help with and let people help you (Laundry, grocery shopping, rides to treatment, meals etc)

  • The most helpful message I received during my diagnosis is that thank you cards are unnecessary when you're fighting for your life. They're nice, but if you're doing it all on your own, don't worry about them! ~Liz, Bladder Cancer Survivor & GH Engagement Specialist

  • ASK FOR HELP! Don't feel guilty asking others for help. Help others help you!

  • If you had to have Cancer you have the Best one.(Hodgkins) Fight it

  • am learning to be a survivor .always ask help and advice be an advocate to others ,we are not alone on this ,we are in together

  • ASK QUESTIONS. There is no such thing as a stupid question! Patient or caregivers have every right to understand what is happening. With that in mind, if you're the patient really advocate to have someone else with you at appointments to follow along.

  • To address and work through all of the emotions I was feeling. To seek help if I couldn't on my own or I needed any help.

  • Advocate for yourself! Ask questions and for clarification, insist on screenings, etc. Ask about support resources, retreats, community, whatever you need.

  • A friend who was going through treatment advised me to focus on the gifts cancer would leave for me and be grateful. I saw many breakthroughs when there were breakdowns. It sometimes took a while to the the gifts but this made me be grateful

  • Do whatever you need to do to feel comfortable. You know your body best. Ask questions. Talk to people. Knowledge is power.

  • Make lists of your questions and take someone with you to all of your appointments!

  • It's OK to feel sad. No one knows what you're going through.

  • I can navigate survivorship on my own terms. Support groups didn't work for me, but CBT, journaling, music therapy, and art therapy did.

  • "Feel what you're going to feel. It will eventually pass". This was super helpful advice from my therapist on trigger coping.

  • You are strong, even if you don't feel it today. Sending you an embrace so you remember you're not alone! Cancer will impact you in ways you may not expect or realize yet. It may take a month, a year, a decade or longer before you feel you have recovered.

  • The most helpful message I received since my diagnosis is to have a faith. I found praying and meditating gave me the serenity that helped me through chemotherapy and surgery. I knew I could get kick cancer in the tush!

  • Self-care is not selfishness!
